Stone Appearance

Galarza Modular Stone

A square system that scales — from 2-inch mosaic to 31-inch formats, all aligned on one module.

Galarza is the most architectural range Miami Stone Veneer Specialists carries. Seven formats, all built on the same module, which means you can shift scale across a building without ever changing material or breaking the joint lines.

What modularity buys you

Say you're cladding a house where the ground floor is a big unbroken mass and the upper floor is cut up with windows. Run Galarza 15x15 below and Classic Galarza above, and the joints still align at the transition. Same stone, same colour, two different rhythms — and it looks intentional rather than like you ran out of material.

Architects specify it for exactly this. It behaves like a system rather than a product, which is rare in veneer.

Choosing the scale

  • Galarza 2x2 — mosaic scale. Reads as texture, not stone, past about fifteen feet. Use it in niches, behind a bar, on a single panel.
  • Classic Galarza and 5x5 — the middle. Works almost anywhere, residential or commercial.
  • 11x5 and 15x15 — large fields. These need room. On a small wall a 15¾-inch square looks like three tiles and a mistake.
  • 15xMixed — the long formats, for breaking up a big elevation without introducing a second product.

Cost

$9 to $15 per square foot. The small formats cost less in material and more in labour — a mason lays roughly eight times as many pieces per square foot of 2x2 as of 15x15, and that shows up in the install quote rather than ours.

Common questions

What does 'modular' actually mean here? +

Every Galarza format is a multiple of the same base module, so a 5⅞-inch square, an 11 13/16-inch rectangle, and a 15¾-inch square all line up on a shared grid. You can change scale across an elevation and the joints still align.

Which Galarza for a large facade? +

Galarza 15x15 or 15xMixed. The big squares suit a large, uninterrupted elevation, and the mixed format breaks up the rhythm so it doesn't read as tile. The 2x2 mosaic on a whole facade is overwhelming — keep it for panels and niches.

Is this the same as porcelain tile? +

No. It's through-coloured concrete with a stone face, roughly 200–250 kg/cm² compressive strength, and it goes up on lath and scratch coat like the rest of our veneer. Porcelain is a thin fired sheet on adhesive. Different material, different install, different failure modes.

What is 9 Squares? +

A 7⅞-inch relief tile with a nine-square grid pressed into the face. It sits between the flat Galarza formats and our 3D panels — geometric, but subtle enough to run across a full wall.
